What it means

A resting order that closes a position once price reaches a favourable level you defined in advance.

Why it matters when you trade

A take-profit is how a plan survives contact with a green number. Left to instinct, most traders cut winners early and let losers run — the exact inverse of what makes money. Pairing a take-profit with a stop-loss turns a position into a defined bet with a known reward-to-risk ratio, which is the only form in which an edge can be measured at all.

Worked example

Entry 100, stop 94, take-profit 118. Risk 6, reward 18, ratio 3:1 — a strategy hitting that target only 35% of the time still makes money.

See it on live markets

DexLadder runs take-profit against live market and pool data, with simulated capital, so you can watch it act on an order instead of reading about it — no account, no wallet, nothing installed.
