What it means

An instruction to trade immediately at whatever price the book or pool currently offers.

Why it matters when you trade

A market order guarantees execution and nothing else. It is the correct tool when getting out matters more than the price you get out at, and the wrong tool almost everywhere else. Its true cost is spread plus slippage plus the taker fee, which on an illiquid pair can exceed your entire expected edge. Every beginner blow-up story contains a market order into a market that was not there.

Worked example

You market-sell during a flush. The book has thinned to a third of its usual depth, so a position that normally costs 0.05% to exit costs 1.8%.

See it on live markets

DexLadder runs market order against live market and pool data, with simulated capital, so you can watch it act on an order instead of reading about it — no account, no wallet, nothing installed.
