Why it matters when you trade
Breakouts are where trends begin and where impatience is punished most often, because the majority fail and return into the range. What separates the two is usually participation: a break carried by expanding volume and rising open interest is different from one on a quiet afternoon. Entering on the retest costs some upside and removes most of the false ones.
