What it means

The payment made to have a transaction included and executed on a blockchain.

Why it matters when you trade

Gas is a priority auction, not a price list: it rises with congestion and it is charged even when a transaction fails. For small trades it is often the dominant cost, which quietly rules out strategies that require frequent on-chain rebalancing. Layer-2 networks exist largely to make that arithmetic work again.

Worked example

A $60 swap that costs $14 in gas has already lost 23% before price does anything at all.

See it on live markets

DexLadder runs gas fee against live market and pool data, with simulated capital, so you can watch it act on an order instead of reading about it — no account, no wallet, nothing installed.
